Description
The origin of pasties are attributed to burlesque shows dating back to the 1920s. They allowed dancers to perform completely topless for their audience without exposing their nipples and/or areolae.
Pasties have many uses such as:
- worn as beachwear during sunbathing to maximize tanning by avoiding strap lines from bikinis while concealing the nipples;
- worn by exotic dancers/strippers and showgirls;
- worn during women’s rights events aimed at changing laws to allow women to be topless in public;
- sometimes worn underneath clothing in lieu of a bra, or underneath swimsuits to conceal the nipples visibility through the fabric;
- sometimes worn as fashion accessories;
- to mitigate a chafing irritation of the nipples experienced by female athletes caused by friction with clothing;
- an erotic evening of play with your lover.
